Andiruptor

The Andiruptor (= by Andi Saile developped induction coil interruptor) is a modern solid state electronic interruptor, where the pulse-energy of the induction coil is charged in traditional style, as Ebang = ( L *  i2 ) / 2 , then discharged by current-interruption, generating a high voltage induction pulse. By means of precise feedback control of primary current and voltage, as well as phase-controlled on- and off- swiching, it is possible  to obtain a diversity of operating modes, which, we believe were not yet, realized in a single interruptor-apparatus (examples: Wagner-hammer, mercury interruptor, effect-similarity to electrolytic interruptors like Wehnelt). The induction coils can be operated at higher power (up to ~1kW) and  higher break rates (up to kHz), than with commonly seen interruptors.

In the course of time, I found myself getting enthusiastic about the possibilities of Andi's interruptor, and was able to take part in the later developpment of the device. I also felt the need, to make my own specimen of the whole system, and the pictures below give an idea of that effort. Finally I had the joy to baptize the "Andiruptor" as a combination of  my hobby-friend Andi's name and the interruptor.
